Traditional music of the Canary Islands

In this workshop, we will explore the soundscape of the Canary Islands through their traditional songbook. Singing will be the central axis of the sessions, accompanied by percussion, writing, and string playing, introducing students to the Canarian timple.

Through the songs, we will discover how each island has developed its own nuance within a shared tradition. This journey will allow us to build a cultural and musical bridge between the Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula, recognizing connections, influences, and singularities that are part of the same Atlantic root.

To take part in this workshop, you will need to bring a plucked string instrument (timple, guitar, bandurria, etc.).
