Baroque arias by composers such as George Frideric Handel, Henry Purcell, Nicola Porpora, José de Nebra and Antonio Vivaldi form an essential part of Europe’s vocal heritage and provide valuable insight into the evolution of Baroque music. These works are distinguished by their expressive intensity, formal balance and remarkable melodic richness. Many of them, full of virtuosity, showcase the technical and expressive possibilities of the human voice, as well as the exceptional artistry of the performers for whom they were written. This concert, the result of the Opera Studio course led by tenor Jordi Domènech as part of Proto-fest, will offer a journey through the creativity, diversity and expressive power of the Baroque, a pivotal period in the history of Western music.
