From Wednesday 27 August 2025, 21:30 h to 23:00 h
Catalan song recital by Mireia Tarragó, a renowned Catalan soprano and a great specialist in this repertoire, and Xavier García Cardona, a pianist, conductor and composer from Calella. The concert is part of the "Vespres de Clàssica" cycle that takes place on Wednesdays in August at the Church of Santa Maria and Sant Nicolau in Calella.
They perform works by renowned Catalan composers such as Eduard Toldrà, Pau Casals and Isaac Albéniz, and others who are less well-known and want to be known, such as the composer of the early 20th century, Pere Astort, who signed under the pseudonym Cliffton Worsley. The musicologist Joan Montón has recovered the work of Astort, from whom songs with exquisite melodies will be performed, such as "Vertige" or "Para ti sola", among others, or one of his famous "Vals-Boston" for piano.
Songs by Conxita Badia are also included on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her death, little-known songs by the most famous singer of the Catalan Lied repertoire.
The repertoire is completed by works by Matilde Salvador and Xavier García Cardona himself, with texts by the poetesses Juana de Ibarbourou and Maria Cardona.
